Károly Halász studied decorative painting at the Secondary School of Art in Pécs. In 1968 he became a member of the Studio of Applied Arts of Pécs, and later a founding member of the group Pécs Workshop; from 1960 onwards, he regularly participated in group exhibition both in Hungary and abroad. He organized numerous exhibitions during the 1960s and the 1970s, in 1991 he founded the Paksi Képtár, where he was the director until 2006. Halász passed away in 2016.
