The Museum of Contemporary Art - Ludwig Museum Budapest presents the work of 15 Swiss artists under the title CH - Contemporary Swiss Art. The aim of the exhibition initiated by Pro Helvetia is to illuminate various aspects of Swiss contemporary art, which has remained little known in Hungary until now.
In our selection we endeavoured to introduce internationally known artists (Pipilotti Rist, Sylvie Fleury, Peter Fischli & David Weiss) alongside the less known younger generation of Swiss artists. Artists working with diverse media take part in the exhibition; thus, the audience has the chance to view video installations, photography and painting, as well as site-specific works.
In the course of the selection process, we gave preference to works that, directly or indirectly, form an opinion on the particular geopolitical situation of Switzerland, or on the identity of its residents. Another important aspect was to present those works that relate to Swiss artistic traditions, first and foremost the heritage of Dada absurdity.
Exhibiting artists:
Stefan Altenburger, Stefan Banz, Nicolas Faure, Sylvie Fleury, Daniela Grüninger, Peter Fischli-David Weiss, L/B, Claudia and Julia Müller, Christian Philipp Müller, Guido Nussbaum, Pipilotti Rist, Adrian Schiess, Jean-Frédéric Schnyder, Erik Steinbrecher, Beat Streuli
A selection of videos compiled from the collection of Kunsthaus Zürich is also on view within the exhibition.
