Hajdu István wrotes on Róbert Swierkiewicz, born in 1942: “since the beginning of his carrier, he has been freely ranging across the whole spectrum of the twentieth century style and technique in a totally inhibited way, appropriating all sorts of devices with careless abandon”.
This time he built a monumental installation, planned for a long time before, in which he introduces a new form in the visual arts: he shows three balloons, two of them will be shown on the ground floor of the museum, the biggest one, a real hot-air-balloon will be shown open-air, next to the building. The third one is a real hot-air-balloon, which can fly, too, it will be visible from every point of the town because of its 24 meters height. Róbert Swierkiewicz wrote a text on the silver-red color balloon with blue paint. The balloon will be shown in nice weather only, at weekends, and it will move vertically only. The pilot of the balloon is Péter Szabó, Hungarian height-recorder.
The two smaller balloons inside the building are shaping a male and a female form. There are monumental paintings around, which were painted with help of river Danube: “First, I put the canvases into the water of the Danube, and I painted them under the water ... secondly, I covered them by mud ... thirdly, I painted the cracks between the pieces of mud, and I waited till the paint has been absorbed into the canvas ... fourthly, I washed the whole surface of the PICTURE ... fifthly, I stretched the canvas on the frame”.
This installation is such a monumental project, which is very rare in the field of visual arts, so perhaps it will be the sensation of the year.
