The Mission of the Friends of the Ludwig Museum
The Association of the Friends of the Ludwig Museum is a public benefit organization. It was established on 12 January 2004 with the commitment to support the Ludwig Museum in an enormous step towards its enlarged significance in a new location. The Friends contribute to the development of the collection and the services with its best knowledge.
The mission of the Friends is to promote contemporary art to the widest public audience and enhance the European prestige of the Ludwig Museum.
General Objectives
- Merging and mobilizing communities and individuals interested in the culture represented by the Ludwig Museum for the sake of the Museum and contemporary art.
- Enlarging the scope of the Museum towards a contemporary art center where attendant-arts, various lectures on art and culture and programs for professionals raise the attention to contemporary fine art.
- The Museum is to be an important meeting point to create a society of people, art friends and artists, who love the Ludwig Museum, love contemporary art, agree with our endeavors, and require a high standard of entertainment and social life.
- Decentralization of contemporary art. For this aim we would like to draw other regions of Hungary into the circle of the Ludwig Museum.
- Integrate the Ludwig Museum Budapest into the European common knowledge.
- Developing the collection of the Ludwig Museum with donations, facilitating the purchase of artworks and long-term loan of pieces in private collections.
- Contributing to the development of the Ludwig Museum`s services.
- Help the Ludwig Museum complete its tasks related to museum education and public education.
- Reinforcing the presence of the Ludwig Museum within the country and in an international context.
