Our popular Behind the Scenes programme returns with new stops and surprises. We open doors to spaces that are essential to the museum’s day-to-day operation but normally remain closed to the public.
Our conservators will show you where and how they work, take you behind the scenes into the museum’s storage areas, and introduce you to a few selected works of art. What do artworks need to be protected from? What happens to them when they are not on display? And how are they safely transported from storage to the exhibition galleries?
As a new feature of the programme, the museum’s security expert will share some behind-the-scenes insights into how artworks are kept safe. We will then follow the route taken by the artworks themselves, travelling in the museum’s large freight lift to the collection exhibition, where the programme concludes with a guided tour.

This chronologically unfolding plane is intersected by the logic of the thematic perspective: the exhibition is presented in its own chronological order, divided into separate sections, and presents a unique cross-section of the continuously growing collection.
