The Museum of Contemporary Art / Ludwig Museum Budapest presents a group of young artists, around 30, in the framework of the Budapest Spring Festival. Generally speaking this is a painting show by painters but we had no intention to make any restriction concerning genre and techniques. Despite of this freedom the artworks do have common characteristics: all of them reflect either to the problems of the painting as medium or make use of the classical techniques. Most of the selected artists became 'fashionable' with many one person and group exhibitions both in small galleries and bigger institutions. No wonder or secret that they are getting to be successful on the art market as well. This exhibition intends to show a typical artistic development of the late 90s by presenting one single but important piece by artist. The material is very rich in techniques and forms - watercolour, monochrome painting, digital print - and even the traditional works are filtered by a strong end-of-millennium, technicist but in the same time poetic mood. During the exhibition a book entitled Anthology going to be published with collected writings by poets and novelists of the same generation along with the paintings reproduced. Sometimes the connection is direct between the artwork and the text, sometimes loosely ranging from direct inspiration to a point of departure and free association. The two groups of intellectuals, the writers and visual artists, who have less and less communication in recent times, can start a new discourse about art again. We intend to publish the book first in Hungarian later on in German version (for the Frankfurt Book Fair) with writings by László Bóna, Attila Kristóf Nagy, János Háy, Gergely Péterfy, István Vörös, Attila Bartis, Krisztina Tóth, Zoltán Galántai, Árpád Kun, János Térey, Krisztián Peer, Endre Kukorelly, István Kemény and Rita Abody. Graphic designer of the book is Gábor Gerhes. Curator of the exhibition and editor of the book is Krisztina Szipõcs.
