What can fit into a handful of beans? Future visions, stories, play – and a little magic.
Bean throwing is an ancient form of divination known across many cultures: at once serious and playful, ritualistic and liberating. In this workshop, we are not seeking answers in the literal sense; instead, we learn how to pay attention—to patterns, associations, and each other’s stories.
Our shared work begins in the exhibition space, where we explore related artworks by Fuzzy Earth (Gedeon Tekla and Sebastian Gschanes) and Szemző Zsófia as possible points of departure. The impressions, feelings, and thoughts gathered there continue to work within us throughout the workshop.
Following the ritual, we will also plant real seeds: everyone will plant the seeds of the group of beans they felt most connected to.
At the end of the workshop, we close with a shared meal—conversation, knowledge-sharing, and slowing down together.
Workshop facilitators: Gedeon Tekla and Sebastian Gschanes, artist of Fuzzy Earth Szemző Zsófia, artist Varga Zita, museum educator
Duration: 3 hours
The language of the workshop is Hungarian, but it is accessible for English speakers.
