Food Design Programme for Black Mirror. The Long Shadow of the Future
Food, eating and gastronomy have long been recurring themes in art. At the same time, contemporary gastronomy – particularly fine dining – is placing increasing emphasis on the visual presentation and aesthetic qualities of food, as well as on the design concepts behind it.
But how will we eat in the future? What role will food play in our identity and culture? And how can we preserve the creativity and experiential qualities of gastronomy while moving towards a more sustainable future?
Together with art historian and food design researcher Márta Merkl (BGE, BCE, Onyx), we will take a short journey through contemporary representations of food and explore the latest trends in fine dining and food design. Taking works from the Black Mirror. The Long Shadow of the Future exhibition as our starting point, we will also examine how art, food, design and ideas about the future can intersect.
The programme is interactive, inviting participants to engage not only as viewers but also through discussion and shared experiences. A special surprise tasting will also be part of the evening.
