GÁBOR PINTÉR is a member of the young generation of painters who, breaking with the traditional canon of painting, use pictorial elements and techniques that have hitherto been unusual in painting. In his works, he applies the tools of the moving image and rapid graphics. He formulates the essence of painting in the negation of the attitude of representation and in a new role for the painter and painting, while at the same time raises the question whether painting is necessary. His paintings are made in traditional techniques (oil on canvas), but he also works on paper and with installations. In his works, very strange, eccentric figures appear, and although close to caricature, his pictorial scenarios are social tableaux and genre pictures of our present or satirical representations of major antique allegories. His figures, painted with powerful gestures, are freely associated with the stories in the pictures. The representation of the process of storytelling is a basic element of his work.
