A painter by training, Agnes von Uray has been making time-based works of art for years. In former works, the temporal sequences were arranged in narrative cycles: mostly drawn storyboards served as the basis of storytelling. Originally used in filmmaking as a technical script, what the form facilitates in these works is not linear narration but narratives that capture key moments of the story—focal points from which the whole story can be reconstructed. The two-dimensional, drawn and painted technique is now replaced by animation, in which the drawn phases, or moments, generate the temporal progression of the story—a song sung by a child—in accordance with their own dynamic.
