Contemporary artists and children in state care meet through works exhibited at the Ludwig Museum

The Világszép Child Protection Foundation celebrates its 15th anniversary this year and organises an unusual contemporary art exhibition at the Ludwig Museum. The exhibition Világszép Connections is not only a showcase of artworks, but also a moving document of the unique encounter between 24 acclaimed contemporary Hungarian artists and 77 young people living in or having left state care.

The young people first got to know the artists through their work, and then met in person to conceive new works together. Inspired by conversations, shared experiences, and workshops, the artists created new works that provide deeper insight into the lives of children and demonstrate the power of openness, attention, and acceptance towards one another.

“I think that an exhibition will be created in September that should not be missed. It is something that every sensitive person should see,” emphasized Noémi Orvos Tóth, psychologist, writer, and one of the exhibition’s ambassadors.

“From the very beginning, Porsche Centrum Budapest has been happy to support art projects, whether they involve classical music or visual arts collaborations. We are delighted that this time we were able to support children who do not have the opportunity to do so in their everyday lives in their creative endeavours and in discovering their creativity,” said Péter Árvay, marketing manager at Porsche Centrum Budapest.

Raiffeisen Bank is also a major sponsor of Világszép Connections.

The exhibition is accompanied by an exclusive, bilingual catalogue published by Open Books, which presents the stories behind the encounters and the background to the creation of the works. For more information about the catalogue, CLICK HERE

Visitors can also take part in special guided tours led by renowned artists and public figures, including Krisztián Steigervald, Pál Mácsai, and Eszter Ráskó. The ambassadors of the exhibition are Noémi Orvos-Tóth, Nóra Winkler, and Krisztián Steigervald.

The exhibition will feature a patchwork quilt, which was created with the participation of public figures in the form of a community collection, symbolically representing the 201 children and young people in state care with whom the Foundation is currently in contact.
