This time, both the children’s workshop and the guided tour for parents are connected to the exhibition Walk This Way. The Art of Walking.
Walking has a long and diverse history. Ancient Greek philosophers walked, as did pilgrims, while today parents take walks with their babies and dogs go for walks with their owners. The artworks in the exhibition explore walking from a wide range of perspectives.
During the workshop, we will discuss the many different forms of walking and what they might mean to us. We will explore maps and learn to recognise the symbols used on pedestrian maps. We will also reflect on the distances we cover on our everyday journeys and try to represent them through illustrated, symbolic maps.
In the exhibition, we will discover works by Eszter Csorba, András Wolsky and Bruce Nauman. Inspired by these artworks, we will experiment with unusual ways of walking, with plenty of opportunities for laughter and fun!
We will also experience what it is like to move forward according to the numbers rolled on a die.
Finally, each child will create their own large, colourful, illustrated map, following their imagination and inventing their own rules.
Please make sure children wear comfortable clothes suitable for creative activities, as they may get messy!
The workshop can accommodate a maximum of 14 children and their parents.
Family Morning consists of three interconnected parts. As the activities build on one another, we kindly ask all participants to arrive by 10:30 am.
