An extraordinary concert in the #Bartók exhibition with Omar Bashir and Oláh Dezső Trio
Musical reflections and improvisations inspired by Béla Bartók's Six dances

Omar Bashir is an Iraqi-Hungarian musician, living in Hungary, who has gained international reputation for mastering the oud. His father, Munir Bashir was considered to be one of the best oud players in the world, and was often referred as “King of the Oud”. Omar Bashir plays a very complex music, amalgamating Eastern spirit, jazz and world music. International success resulted in recording an album with Al Di Meola, the world famous guitar player.

Omar Bashir prepares with a special programme for the exclusive event inspired by the temporary exhibition titled #Bartók. This evening he is performing together with the young, talented Hungarian jazz pianist Dezső Oláh and his group an adaptation for drum, double bass and piano of Bartók’s Rumanian folk dances composed in 1915 for piano. The composition consists of 6 movements, each of them containing authentic folk dance music, which give the starting point for improvisation in Bartók’s spirit, preserving meanwhile the original character of his music.

OLÁH Dezső - piano
PECEK LAKATOS András - drum
OLÁH Péter - double bass
